Califon Recreation is partnering with the Califon Area Merchants and Professionals Association and Shannon’s Fly and Tackle to present the Second Annual Califon Troutfest on Saturday, May 5. The rain date is Sunday, May 6th. The fishing area is from Califon Island Park downstream through Califon Pond on River Road. Registration begins at 7:30am at Califon Island Park. The Kids Trout Derby starts at 8:00 AM and continues until Noon. Shannon’s One Fly Contest starts at 1:00 PM and continues until 4:00 PM. Coffee and donuts will be available at Califon Island Park as well as equipment vendors and live music during the day. Food is available at the local restaurants, and individuals at the registration center will tell you about the different choices in town. Califon Island Park is located at 130 Bank Street in Califon, and admission is free. The second annual Troutfest is just one of the ways Califon embodies the joys small-town life in this charming borough.
